The Beta District Names Doug McCollough First-Ever Executive Director
Dublin, OH; Marysville, OH; Union County, OH – The Beta District leadership announced today that Doug McCollough has been named the first ever Executive Director of The Beta District, an innovative ecosystem that spans from Columbus through Dublin, Marysville and Union County.
McCollough has served on the Executive Committee as a strategic advisor in The Beta District since 2015. In 2023, he led The Beta District’s inaugural Mobility in Color event, a one-day event for industry experts and business leaders of color to share and learn the latest trends and business needs in tech. The event won an Award of Excellence at the 2024 PRSA Central Ohio Prism Awards.

McCollough has served as the Chief Information Officer for the City of Dublin and is the Founder/CEO of Color Coded Labs, a culturally focused tech bootcamp focused on preparing underserved, underrepresented and marginalized communities for careers in tech. He has more than 20 years of experience in the high-tech space, with roles spanning the public and private sectors.

McCollough steps into this role effective immediately.

The Beta District is the newly named high-tech region that stretches northwest along US 33 from Columbus, Ohio, the nation’s 14th largest city, through Franklin, Union and Logan counties. It is overseen by the Northwest 33 Council of Governments, which includes Dublin, Marysville, Union County and the Marysville-Union County Port Authority. The Beta District offers an ecosystem of smart infrastructure and living labs where leaders in all industry sectors can tap into resources and collaborate on groundbreaking projects. More than $100 million in public and private dollars have been invested in The Beta District’s first living lab, the 33 Smart Mobility Corridor, including significant funding from the Ohio Department of Transportation and DriveOhio. DriveOhio is the state’s portal to smart mobility on the ground and in the air. Another Beta District partner, The Transportation Research Center Inc., is home to the 540-acre SMARTCenter, North America’s most comprehensive closed track testing for connected and automated vehicles.
